High School: McCollum High School Class of 1980

University:  Our Lady of the Lake  - Bachelor of Science in Education 1984

This is my 33rd year in education.  I am currently the Dyslexia/Bilingual ARI Teacher at Gilbert Elementary.  This is my 9th year as a reading intervention teacher and my 7th year as the campus dyslexia teacher.  For most of my career prior to this, I taught in a bilingual classroom in grades 1, 2, and 5.  I was also a Harlandale District Bilingual Facilitator for two years.  I have also taught Adult Education- ESL.

I was raised in Harlandale.  I attended private school from 1st to 8th grade. I was inspired to become a teacher by my Aunt Paula.  I knew that I wanted to become a teacher since the 4th grade.  I graduated from McCollum High School.  I received my Bachelor of Science Degree from Our Lady of the Lake University.

I was inducted into the Bilingual Teacher Hall of Fame in 1995.  I became a member of the Harlandale I.S. D. Hall of Fame in 1999.  I had the privilege to be Gilbert Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2000 and in 2015.

Though I have experienced many changes in my life along the way, the one thing that has always been constant is my love for my family, my friends, and my students.
